Collection: Lighting

Lighting here comes from two directions: workshops still making it by hand today, and vintage pieces - mostly Murano - carrying decades of use.

NasonMoretti has worked in glass on Murano since 1923; its Borealis pieces use a spiral set on the diagonal, not as decoration but as the form itself, catching light differently from every angle as colour pools toward the base. Hanoia has hand-made Vietnamese lacquerware since 1997, from a traditional lacquer village near Hanoi - its Đăng lamps built from successive coats of sơn mài lacquer, hand-sanded between layers, the technique's characteristic translucence coming from nothing but time and sanding. Ceramica Bevilacqua, the Sicilian ceramicists behind much of the ceramics collection, throws lamp bases by hand in the same workshop; Giulio Giannini, bookbinders and paper-marblers in Florence since 1856, cut lampshades from their marbled paper.

Alongside these sit vintage Murano pieces sourced directly - a Carlo Scarpa reticello pendant for Venini, a Barovier e Toso Art Deco piece from the 1930s, sconces and pendants whose makers helped define what Murano glass looks like in the first place.

New or decades old, hand-blown or hand-lacquered, the constant is that nothing here is extruded or moulded at scale - every piece still shows the hand that shaped it.
