Collection: Prempracha's Collection

Prempracha's Collection has shaped stoneware ceramics in San Kamphaeng, near Chiang Mai, since 1986, and is still run today by the family that founded it.

The range is organised by technique rather than shape, and each one has its own name. Tie Dye brushes the glaze on in loose, overlapping strokes that bleed and blend like dye on cloth, rather than a flat, even coat. Drip Glaze lets a second colour run and pool down the sides of a piece as it fires. Kintsugi borrows the logic, if not the literal method, of the Japanese repair tradition, tracing a seam of contrast across the surface. Hand-Painted, Glassy and Artsy each describe a different finish and palette, from bright multicolour to a single glossy black.

Across all of it, the glaze is doing the work a mould would do elsewhere: no two pieces from the same technique come out quite the same, because the pattern is decided by a hand and a kiln, not a template.
