About Côté Bougie
In 2003, Saida Kadiri left a career decorating children's bedrooms in Casablanca and started making candles — first for her own house, with whatever pots and pans she had. Two years later her son Omar joined her, and Côté Bougie has been a family business in Marrakech ever since. The candles are hand-poured: soy wax, Italian cotton wicks, recycled glass. The fragrances are composed in Grasse and chosen to read as Morocco — citrus, spice, cedar. The vessels, including the olive-green ceramics of Tamegroute, are made by Moroccan artisans.

A scented disc does what a candle does, without the flame. The disc is ceramic, and it holds its fragrance quietly - hang it in a wardrobe, slip it into a drawer of linen, or leave it on a shelf you pass often. When the scent begins to soften, a few sprays from the small 4 ml bottle that comes with it bring it back, week after week. The fragrances are composed in Grasse and chosen, like everything Côté Bougie makes, to read as Morocco.
Three scents.
Oriental - cinnamon, sandalwood, cedar, musk; warm and lightly spiced.
Mandarine Majorelle - tangerine, orange, orange blossom, vanilla, musk; bright and floral, named for the Jardin Majorelle, the blue-walled garden in Marrakech.
Orange Spices - Côté Bougie’s winter scent, Noël à Marrakech: orange and warm spice, in a box illustrated for the season.
Each set comes boxed: one ceramic disc, one 4 ml spray.
