Beppe Giacobbe, born in Milan in 1953, is an illustrator and longtime contributor to Corriere della Sera, trained at the Accademia di Brera and in New York.
Ruth stands facing us, hands folded at her waist. A grey jumper, high at the neck. Copper-red hair, parted in the centre, falling to the jaw.
Where her face should be: a scrap of old, yellowed paper, a few lines of faded handwriting. Someone else's words, in place of her expression.
In the crook of her arm sits a black cat, turned away from us, its fur picked out in fine white scratches. Neither of them shows us a face. Both seem entirely at ease.
From Fisionomie (2025), first shown at di tanti volti - of many faces - in Tolmezzo, curated by Giovanna Durì. Fine art print on 308gsm Hahnemühle cotton. Image 15 × 21 cm on 29.7 × 21 cm sheet. Edition of thirty, each with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Exclusive to Australia.
