About the workshop
Prempracha's Collection has shaped stoneware in San Kamphaeng, near Chiang Mai, since 1986, and is still run by the family that founded it.
Its plates, bowls and vases come in techniques with their own names - Tie Dye, where the glaze is brushed on in loose, bleeding strokes rather than laid flat; Drip Glaze, left to run and pool in the kiln; Glassy, a reactive glaze that settles differently on every piece; and Kintsugi, after the Japanese art of repairing with gold. The Rest vases were designed with the ceramicist Sarngsan Na Soontorn.
Nothing comes off a mould. The piece that arrives will not be quite like the one in the photograph - a difference that is not a flaw, but the point.

Prempracha's Collection has shaped stoneware ceramics in San Kamphaeng, near Chiang Mai, since 1986, still run today by the family that founded it.
Working with ceramicist Sarngsan Na Soontorn, the workshop designed the Rest collection around a single idea: nine vase forms, each with a wide base and an opening built for one stem, not an arrangement. The wide base has a second job - catching the petals as a flower moves from bud to bloom to wither, so its whole life plays out on the ceramic beneath it. Each of the nine forms is glazed in one colour only.
This form comes in a matt white, its base 23 by 23 centimetres and standing 11.5 centimetres tall. Every piece is hand-formed, so slight variations in glaze and shape are part of the object, not a flaw in it.
