Antica Barbieria Colla has been Milan's barbershop since 1904, still run today by the Bompieri family.

The mallow plant takes its name from the Latin mollire - to soften. It grows wild across the Mediterranean, in fields and at the edges of paths, up to 1300 metres above sea level, and it has been gathered and used since the time of the Romans for exactly the quality its name describes: soothing, calming, the resolution of irritation.

Antica Barbieria Colla's shampoo built around it is the most straightforward in the house's range - suitable for all hair types, appropriate for daily use, a formulation for a scalp that needs steadiness rather than correction. Brightness and volume without intervention.

When clients at Via Gerolamo Morone ask for something to give, this is the one the house suggests.

About the barbershop

Antica Barbieria Colla has been on Via Gerolamo Morone in Milan since 1944 - and in the city, without interruption, since 1904. Dino Colla opened the original barbieria near the Duomo that year, modelled on the private gentlemen's clubs of London. The house survived two addresses and a wartime bombing; Francesca Bompieri, whose father Franco ran it from 1975, runs it today. The product line - hair, skin, beard, shaving, and four signature colognes - traces its formulations to Colla himself, each recipe passed down and quietly refined through the generations of ownership that followed. Everything is hand-made in Italy by specialists who work in direct contact with the house.
