Antica Barbieria Colla has been Milan's barbershop since 1904, still run today by the Bompieri family.
Most conditioning ingredients work by adding what hair lacks. Jojoba oil works differently. Its chemical composition is so close to that of human sebum - the skin's own lubricant - that the beard receives it as its own. Not as a supplement, but as a replenishment.
The result is beard hair that is soft, shiny, and easy to comb, without weight or residue. Aloe and hydrolysed wheat protein are in the formula alongside, each attending to the skin and shaft respectively.
The conditioner was designed to be rinsed out. Ten minutes in, washed off - the beard is noticeably different afterwards. Those with a particularly damaged beard can also leave it in.

About the barbershop
Antica Barbieria Colla has been on Via Gerolamo Morone in Milan since 1944 - and in the city, without interruption, since 1904. Dino Colla opened the original barbieria near the Duomo that year, modelled on the private gentlemen's clubs of London. The house survived two addresses and a wartime bombing; Francesca Bompieri, whose father Franco ran it from 1975, runs it today. The product line - hair, skin, beard, shaving, and four signature colognes - traces its formulations to Colla himself, each recipe passed down and quietly refined through the generations of ownership that followed. Everything is hand-made in Italy by specialists who work in direct contact with the house.
