Antica Barbieria Colla has been Milan's barbershop since 1904, still run today by the Bompieri family.

Three plants, each with a specific task. Mallow - whose Latin name means to soften - moisturises and calms. Fenugreek, a seed with a long history in the kitchens and apothecaries of the Mediterranean, adds gloss, thickness, and volume. Nettle, the most astringent of the three, stimulates circulation at the scalp, restores pH, and prevents follicle obstruction.

The formula they make together is light enough for all hair types and effective on the most resistant knots - a creamy conditioner that untangles without breaking.

The CEO of a renowned Italian tire manufacturer is said to order three or four bottles a month.

About the barbershop

Antica Barbieria Colla has been on Via Gerolamo Morone in Milan since 1944 - and in the city, without interruption, since 1904. Dino Colla opened the original barbieria near the Duomo that year, modelled on the private gentlemen's clubs of London. The house survived two addresses and a wartime bombing; Francesca Bompieri, whose father Franco ran it from 1975, runs it today. The product line - hair, skin, beard, shaving, and four signature colognes - traces its formulations to Colla himself, each recipe passed down and quietly refined through the generations of ownership that followed. Everything is hand-made in Italy by specialists who work in direct contact with the house.
