About the workshop
Prempracha's Collection has shaped stoneware in San Kamphaeng, near Chiang Mai, since 1986, and is still run by the family that founded it.
Its plates, bowls and vases come in techniques with their own names - Tie Dye, where the glaze is brushed on in loose, bleeding strokes rather than laid flat; Drip Glaze, left to run and pool in the kiln; Glassy, a reactive glaze that settles differently on every piece; and Kintsugi, after the Japanese art of repairing with gold. The Rest vases were designed with the ceramicist Sarngsan Na Soontorn.
Nothing comes off a mould. The piece that arrives will not be quite like the one in the photograph - a difference that is not a flaw, but the point.

Prempracha's Collection has shaped stoneware ceramics in San Kamphaeng, near Chiang Mai, since 1986, still run today by the family that founded it.
Like the workshop's other drip-glaze pieces, this bowl carries a glossy glaze applied heavier at the rim and left to run as it fires, so the colour pools and deepens along the base of each ripple. It comes in green, its scalloped form spanning 40.5 by 41 centimetres and standing 15 centimetres tall.
