Candle Raphia Rim
Candle Raphia Rim
Côté Bougie
Dates - dates, fig, patchouli, cedar, tobacco, musk. Warm and dark; the scent of a Moroccan palm grove at the end of harvest.
Each raffia sleeve is crocheted by hand in Morocco - traditionally by women working in cooperatives - and fitted over a recycled-glass candle vessel. The lattice is left open, the natural raffia undyed. Inside: soy wax, Italian cotton wicks, fragrances composed in Grasse. Four sizes, from a small votive to a wide three-wick large enough to scent a room. Each piece is finished with a small leather tag stitched at the seam.

About Côté Bougie
In 2003, Saida Kadiri left a career decorating children's bedrooms in Casablanca and started making candles — first for her own house, with whatever pots and pans she had. Two years later her son Omar joined her, and Côté Bougie has been a family business in Marrakech ever since. The candles are hand-poured: soy wax, Italian cotton wicks, recycled glass. The fragrances are composed in Grasse and chosen to read as Morocco — citrus, spice, cedar. The vessels, including the olive-green ceramics of Tamegroute, are made by Moroccan artisans.
