Through the 1960s and '70s he worked with the most dramatic stuff available to an Italian maker: palissandro from Brazil, Macassar ebony, burr walnut - and brass, polished to a warm, deep gleam. Where his case furniture let the timber do the talking, the metal was where Frigerio allowed himself ornament. The brass in his work is rarely just a line; it is worked, shaped, given texture - a cabinetmaker's flourish in a material that resists the hand. By the early 1970s Milan was dressing its interiors for a new kind of glamour - lacquer, smoked glass, chrome and gilt - and Frigerio's brass belonged to that moment: confident, decorative, made to catch the light from across a room.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis wall mirror is from that period, designed around 1970. A broad rectangle of mirrored glass is held within a frame of twisted brass, the metal turned along its length like a rope so that every twist carries its own highlight.
